Good Morning Magnolia

Hello again

I finally got to play with this new set
Good Morning Magnolia.
This set also has a coordinating set which can be seen on the new
beginners Brochure we have from SU called Magnolia Blooms.
They go fantastically well together,
and there's even a die set Magnolia Memories, DSP, and *Card Packs.

I did share some cards made with the designer series papers, but this time I wanted to try a new technique,
Whitewash is one name for it.
Inspired by Amanda Bates
who in turn was inspired by Linda

I found the *card blanks a bit flimsy, but loved the kraft colour and gold embossing,
so cut it for matting and layering instead.
I cut the topper around the gold border, laid it temporarily on the larger piece.
I embossed the stamped image in gold, whitewashed the flower with white craft ink and aquapainter,
left it to dry before adding some pink in the flower centres with a dauber.
Layered the topper onto a white piece, then carefully lined it up with the larger topper.

I used an offcut for the gold embossed sentiment, but didn't have a die the right size to mount it on.
By inserting the white piece back into the die, you can alter the size by cutting off the excess.
The top picture above shows the cut off bit.

The envelopes come with pretty inserts, to glue in place.

I was happy with this, but decided to try a slightly simpler version for class.
Mainly because you have to allow time for people to do each stage and share the tools.
I set it up on the Stamparatus, which is perfect for "batch baking"
The one below was inked around the edges with the pink and a dauber.

I'd seen a black embossed version, and did this as another option in class.
This time I used mustard on the flower centres.
Sequins add a finishing touch.

I think they enjoyed these, as it's a fairly easy technique,
yet looks so effective, and works on different cardstock.

Have a great weekend

Lesley
