By The Dock is another retiring set that I have added to my collection.
It really does extend the use of some of my other sets, and there are always nice sentiments, bonus!
This was one of those ideas in my head ( you know what I mean! ),
that turns out way much harder and longer to make than anticipated..........
I made a mask for the dock and used blend brushes to ink the sea and sky.
I used a waterbrush to move the ink...........a quick and simple watercolour method, easy but don't use too much water.....guess how I know................ I added some land.....not in the plan......not sure if it works, but I really wanted that frog in it!
I watercoloured with same method and fussy cut the sentiment............
........so the background of it matches the dock and boat, and stands out a bit from the grass.
See below for my first, binned attempt!!
I did so many things wrong, ended up with a huge sun, wonky waves,
and a shipwrecked boat instead of a nicely docked one!
I'm entering themaleroomchallenge.blogspot.com
I hope you're having a good weekend...........rather soggy in Kent......still, good time to craft eh?
Thanks for visiting, do pop back soon.
The idea in your head worked out well, a really nice scene, love the frog! Great that you shared the first attempt which headed for the bin!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome scenic card. Quite liked the binned one too!

ReplyDeleteFantastic card. Thank you for joining us at The Male Room, Goga
ReplyDeleteThe addition of the land really builds up the scene I think Lesley and you're right, I do think it helps 'dock' the boat! I love that you share the bits that don't necessarily work as well. Hugs, Vicky xxx
