Sometimes a simple card is best

Sometimes a simple card is best…..

I used the masks only for the tree (not the stamps)

Grounded it with a smudge of ink, and stamped a bird

Take care and see you soon

Autumn colours

It’s like someone pressed a switch from summer to autumn!

I think I may have blinked and missed summer to some extent…..just busy I guess.

So I’m popping by with a couple of autumn cards for men…

I had an embossed sheet of that I’d coloured with inks, with lovely leaves, that set the scene.
I then found some coordinating designer series paper and a border die,
that I used to chop the embossed piece in two.

I stamped and inked the relaxing man and the tree, cutting them out to sit on the paper background.

I’m taking this to the Allsorts Challenge #797 “autumn colours.”

Here’s the second card with the other half of the embossed piece.

This is the border die set…

I’m taking this to the Inkspirational Challenge #324 “make your mark”,

I’ve coloured with inks using a brush, blending brush, and blending pen.

I’ve intentionally left them without words, so I can choose when I decide to send them.

Hope it’s warm and dry where you are!

Pine Trees In Colour

I’ve liked some cards I’ve seen using black as the base, here’s the results.

Firstly I die cut the trees leaving the pieces intact, giving the solid pieces texture.

I added gold stars and die cut greeting .

Second was an experiment with some old luminart shimmerypaints,
on a quest to use some old products gathering dust.
I also used some old vibrant embossing powders.

This turned out better in the picture than in reality 😂
It warped a bit as I added too much water to try and even out the brushwork,
which wasn’t very successful, but on I ploughed.

This card below inspired the ones today and yesterday, that used the In Colour cardstock.
It has no watermark so if it’s yours, please let me know so I can give you credit.
It’s so pretty, but I couldn’t do it justice, as they say, must try harder!

Neutral Frosted Forest using designer series paper

I’ve made quite a few cards with the Frosted Forest bundle from SU,

these are simple makes using Winter Meadow DSP (designer series paper).

Perfect for entering the Little Red Wagon challenge #770, asking for neutrals 😃

I added stickles to the tree die cuts, and silver embossed sentiment on vellum.
Trees were cut from shimmery white, smoky slate and grey granite.

Next up, trees from mist moonlight, and night of navy.

Here’s just a few snippets used….so I can hop skip and jump to the

Snippets Playground Challenge #487

Frosted Trees and splats

I’ve been busy in the garden when it’s not too hot 🥵 ,

and in between, I’ve been a busy elf making Christmas cards, as I’m way behind my target.

I am trying not to buy too much new stuff (don’t we all 😂), and being more selective.

I’m really making good use of new sets as a result, and this set was a must have….

Frosted Forest Bundle from Stampin’ Up! gives so many creative possibilities.

If you’re an SU fan, you really MUST look at the ONLINE EXCLUSIVES.

These are new products released periodically that are not in the catalogues. So if you know anyone who relies on the paper catalogue, please do encourage them to look online, because they’re missing out!

Anyway, you really came to see the cards, so here’s a couple….

There’s stamps, dies, and stencils in the Bundle, and these cards  just use one of the dies…
a silhouette of trees and snow/land, which I extended, and added some teeny deer from an old set.
I used a dark blue card base, and splattered it using enamel effects/liquid pearls mixed with a drop of water, and applied with a paint brush flicked against a lid.
I find you get smaller controlled splats if you’re quite close to the card.
Further away they tend to be big splodges, although there’s never a guarantee, 😳 so embrace them, and gently mop big splats with a corner of tissue.

Next is a DL sized black card base with a lot more trees 🌲
This was so simple to do….

I used a similar sized white card piece, cut the trees,
then extended the land by hand cutting in a wonky undulating fashion 😃
Then cut more trees from snippets of card, glueing them behind, altering the heights.
I hope you can see the sheen of the splats, but I also added WOS to the trees for extra sparkle.

Here are just some of the snippets of card used….

I’m taking this to the Snippets Playground, where they have a new challenge #487,

and you just need to hand in your snippets homework…..see you on the swings!
