Hello again!
I might not be posting as often, but I'm trying to make up for it with content.
So I'm here again with lots of pics on a theme, this time with truly dashingly handsome
Dashing Deer.
We did some inky background making at a recent workshop.
There was quite a lot of masking and sponging of ink going on.
Some of them used a shaped aperture, and a hill made from scrap paper.
The snowman was masked, so I could ink the sky over him.
The next one I masked the large deer....he is amazing....
the stamp looks two-tone, even though stamped once in one colour.
The moon is another mask, a circle cut from a sticky note.
The one below used Lovely as a Tree, stamped and heat embossed with white powder.
I then inked over the top, made some hills, and buffed off the trees after.
Spookily I noticed Amanda Bates from thecraftspa.blogspot.com
must have been making similar cards around the same time,
so I'm delighted to share a link to her detailed tutorial HERE.
Do put her blog on your reading list as she makes lovely things,
and often shares her tutorials for free,
Here's some close-ups, not all of them good!
I like how gently inking the bottom of the aperture finishes off the illusion.
I hate how I can see the horizon through his neck!
Below that, I should never have stamped the little deer!
I do like putting white dots with a gel pen.
I tried highlighting the moonlight on the deer, not in a good way, needs some work.
I do like leaving a paler "glow" around the moon though.
I hope you have a fantastic weekend.
