Lovely as a Tree on Vellum

We used Vellum at our last class.
I wanted to introduce the merits of vellum in their projects.
I used "Lovely as a Tree" to stamp on the background, and then stamp and emboss on the vellum.
We used the Stamparatus to provide an easy "shadow", by just cutting the vellum slightly smaller.

We used a Border Die to cut a decorative section, and then stamped the detailed leaf in grey,
which is less harsh than black ink.
I'll be back tomorrow with our other version.

Have a great weekend

Dashing Deer

Hello again!
I might not be posting as often, but I'm trying to make up for it with content.
So I'm here again with lots of pics on a theme, this time with truly dashingly handsome
Dashing Deer.

We did some inky background making at a recent workshop.
There was quite a lot of masking and sponging of ink going on.
Some of them used a shaped aperture, and a hill made from scrap paper.

The snowman was masked, so I could ink the sky over him.

The next one I masked the large deer....he is amazing....
the stamp looks two-tone, even though stamped once in one colour.
The moon is another mask, a circle cut from a sticky note.

The one below used Lovely as a Tree, stamped and heat embossed with white powder.
I then inked over the top, made some hills, and buffed off the trees after.
Spookily I noticed Amanda Bates from thecraftspa.blogspot.com
must have been making similar cards around the same time,
so I'm delighted to share a link to her detailed tutorial HERE.
Do put her blog on your reading list as she makes lovely things,
and often shares her tutorials for free,

Here's some close-ups, not all of them good!
I like how gently inking the bottom of the aperture finishes off the illusion.
I hate how I can see the horizon through his neck!
Below that, I should never have stamped the little deer!
I do like putting white dots with a gel pen.

I tried highlighting  the moonlight on the deer, not in a good way, needs some work.
I do like leaving a paler "glow" around the moon though.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend.

Lovely as a Tree

Hello,
I hope this finds you well.
I'm whooshing by as usual to share a very simple
Pop out twist  or swing card,
using an old favourite, that is still in the SU catalogue,
and is still as popular as ever,
probably because it is timeless, and has such beautiful detail....

I'm sorry I've not been on blogland much lately
Have a wonderful week
&
Keep Crafting

Team Play Day

We had another team play day a little while ago,
a shoe box swap was the main activity, along with much chatter, a fun day indeed.

Liz brought this idea.....mine was a bit off balance....think I was too busy chatting :)

much later on, I added some rhinestones......still not quite happy but hey ho,
I did have some mini poinsettias left over for another time....

This was Jan's take on a Kim Fee card.....love the crumpled seam binding....
hate that I stuck my background on upside down, and the circle the right way up...
resulting in a mismatch......cock-up number two!

Sarn brought us this Tryptic (?) card....
stamped the panel, inked it in blue, yellow, green,
then chopped it in 3 and mounted......yay I think I did ok on this one!

The lovely thing about card making, is there are no rules, no right or wrong,
just a card made with love, to send to someone you care about!

Cherry or Chesnut.....

These little cards were fun to make out of various snippets.

I embossed a large piece with Woodland EF,
then cut it into 4..

I used some of the very delicate gold thread around the stalks

Maybe Hazel...

I love this almost heart shaped leaf...
maybe Poplar....

I stamped Lovely as a Tree onto white card after cutting out the leaves with framelits,
and snippets of Bermuda Bay for the Tiny Tags sentiment

the little yellow leaves are from our silver birch...

Vintage Leaves

Have I told you how much I love this set yet?!
It often happens, that when I finally get a new set out of the box,
I can't put it away!

For a friend who loves the great outdoors and walking...

I inked a piece of card, die-cut leaves, added more ink round edges,
gathered and made a 'bouquet'.
I cut strip of burlap in half, pulled out some threads to make a frill,
used the threads to tie a knot.

Lots of bits used here, so off to the Snippets Playground!

Lovely as a Tree

Had a lovely day at a papercraft show with friends today,
one of which sent me this fab swap recently

Using Lovely as a Tree, and some inking and gold background,
it's a shame as usual that the pic does not do it justice.

I hope you had a lovely weekend
and have an even better week

water pump

Want to see another diamond fold springy card?
No?
Too bad, Im gonna show ya anyhoo!

So this is how it started

Here's the topper,
and a separate piece with the wood grain for the greeting

back view, where I placed the greeting in the pocket

Front view (obvs)
inked around the edges to make it pop

with the greeting tucked in the back

see how I positioned the 'happy' so it peeked out

My neighbour liked this so much he phoned to thank me,
and to say it was sitting proudly on his mantle piece.
How nice and satisfying it is to have helped in
a small way to make someone's day.
I love crafting!

Enjoy your weekend

Rudolph Day June

I made this one using Lovely as a Tree, embossed a silver one,
and added a That's the Ticket tag

.....Then I saw this other cute card by .....oh poo I forget so will edit later!

This is oh so simple to do.....
Punch/die cut a scallop circle, punch a dotty embossed circle,
add a strip of silver glimmer, cut to shape,
add punched star and tree....done!

So that's another one for the xmas pile!

(edited to say:  Connie Stewart of www.simplysimplestamping.com)

These are for Sarn's wonderful Rudolph Day Challenge.....
hop over and take a look at all the fab projects!

Father's Day

Here's what I used for my Father's Day Cards.....

Some photocopy paper, a Brayer, Ink, Circle mask, Dauber, and a stamp!

I used my computer for the verses, and laid down the background with the ink.
Both were very different....
Then I decided to add some colour with marker pens,
by just 'dotting' different colours all over the leaf areas

The bottom one is before it was coloured.....

Here's the finished cards

I hope you have had a good weekend!
