Friend Like You

Hello there, this was a
Happy Birthday to a lovely lady.......
I didn't have a clue where to start on this one,
but I'd had this stamp set out, Friend Like You,
and a spare die cut, which I wasn't sure what to do with.
This is how it turned out....

This is a set where not all the dies match the stamps.
They say it's to get more designs from them, but I prefer matching stuff.
So, I decided to stamp the background, using marker pens instead of ink.
That way you can colour the image before stamping,
giving a kind of watercolour effect.
The dragon flies are two tone, using 2 colours on the teeny stamps.
I then mounted the white die cut on foam pads to create a shadow.
Not sure it was successful, and the recipient makes some awesome cards,
so I was feeling the pressure but with little time to get it in the post!

Have a great day

Origami Notecard Folder

Good afternoon!

Today I'm sharing another zoom class project,
using a 12" x 12" sheet of decorative double sided paper.
Score at 1-7/8", 5 -3/4", 6 -1/4", 10 -1/8".
Turn and score at 2 -1/2" & 8 -1/4".

Fold each corner in at 1 -7/8" (above & below)

Fold those sides inwards

Fold the other sides in.....one overlaps the other.
Tuck one into the other to keep in place

Place note cards in one side, envelopes in the other.
The central score lines form the "spine" of the booklet.

Below shows the front, above is the inside.
Decorate as desired, with a focal point or label,
and secure with ribbon tied around, or make a belly band.

Gift it with your hand made cards, to someone who is unable to go out and buy cards
or notelets, so they can send to loved ones they are missing.
You could even enclose a few stamps.

Enjoy!

Quarter Fold part 2

Hello again,
just popping by with a lot of pics,
all similar but different, so I don't expect you to scroll all the way....
but you might miss two favourites, the cats and the blue one :)

I have a lovely group of friends who send cards, and they all have different favourite colours,
so I sent them these happy mail cards to make them smile and share the fancy fold.

Lots of us are animal lovers, but one in particular is Catnip Cards,
and I tried to make this look like her two special furballs
A group shot, not quite all of them, then lastly, possibly my favourite,
the blue with a double layered butterfly.
I've put the measurements in centimetres at the end.
I hope you are having a good weekend,
see you soon

14.8 x 10.5 cm, score in half at 7.4 cm
11 x 6 cm, score at 1 cm each end for the tabs
17 x 3 cm, score 1 cm each end again for tabs.
DSP layers were
10 x 7 (x2)
5.5 x 4 (x2)
2.5 x 14.5 (x2)

Quarter Fold Pop Up Card

Hello there
thanks for stopping by, it's another warm and sunny day in Kent,
hope the sun is shining where you are.

I saw this idea on Julie Davison's blog
it's also known as a Flat Fold Pop Up card.
It's a quarter of an A4, hence the name, and doesn't fold like a conventional card.

I did this on a zoom class, and after a bit of effort, they all managed it,
and some, like me, became a bit addicted.
It's easy to change the size too, by scaling it up,
and later I will share the measurements I used in centimetres.

Here's the one in inches

Enjoy your day, keep cool, and hope to see you later :)

Shirt cards

Hiya
I've been meeting up with class mates via video chat,
one of them discovered an origami shirt, from Rajini's Craftivity
so we all had a go.......(see below)
It would make a good gift card holder perhaps,
or you could mount it onto a card.

Then I looked for a more conventional card shape with the same theme,
and came across one from Stampladee.com
my version is shown here.......

It makes a difference to the 3-D effect if you ink around the edges.

It's bank holiday here, sun is shining, so I'm going to
put on the sun hat and do some weeding.....
have a good day

Friend Like You

Hello there,
Here's one that looks simple, but oh my goodness,
it was so NOT simple!
I'd seen a card with a similar sentiment, apt for these times,
and had an idea in my head......

I used A Friend Like You to stamp, and Friendly Silhouettes dies.
It was layering in the right order, to get trunk and leaves in different colours,
as leaves crossed over trunks..........anyhoo I did it mainly for the
fun sentiment idea for a friend who's missing her husband as well as her friends :(

Enjoy your weekend....enjoy the little things

Happy Day

Hi there
how are you doing?
Luckily had some birthday cards to make,
and this weekend there's two friends on the same day.
I got the idea from amyoneillblog.com

I started with the sentiment and dies,
then stamped from Awesomely Artistic the large bouquet, twice.
The sentiment hides the overlap of stamping.
For the second one I got out lots of leaf dies and just played about,
until I was happy with the look.

I added embellishments.....rhinestones, enamel dots etc.,
and spent a long time infilling the die cuts with contrasting snippets.
It was quite fiddly, adding tape on the back, then placing the tiny
die cut bits in the right places!

I hope they both have a happy day today!

I hope you do too :)

I might take the opportunity to visit the Snippets Playground,
as I used various snippets for the die cuts.

Well Written

Hi there
I saw an idea from painted-orange.com,
had a spare happy die cut and some old DSP with script,
which makes a good background.
I diecut a butterfly from white card and vellum, for that to sit on.

I like the contrast of crumb cake and black,
so added a black banner, and a few sequins, plus the stamped bold "birthday".
I wrapped some scallop ribbon around to add some prettiness

I discovered after making this that I do in fact have the Well Written dies,
so I was pleased about that, as although hardly used, it was on my wish list!

Peaceful Poppies

Hello
I needed a quick card, and these pretty blank cards
from the Poppies suite were ideal.
I got the pack that gives you toppers, banners etc.
There's also pre cut vellum which is under the banner.

Have a super Sunday

Sticky Note Holder

Hi there
a lovely friend gifted me a die.....a rather large tag.....
which I'm going to use for xmas presents,
but meantime I tried to think of an alternative to just a tag.
It comes with dies to do all the layers for decorating,
so no measuring or cutting!
I found the idea of a sticky note holder,
and faffed about trying to get it stand, by scoring and folding.
It doesn't stand awfully well, but at least I tried!

Have a good weekend, wherever you are whatever you do.
Stay safe, stay well, and stay crafting

A Good Man collage

Hi There
Happy VE day !

I made a batch of cards for Mum to send, as she can't get out to choose cards.
This personalised one uses memories and more cards from SU.
These are various pictures/patterns/sizes, some with areas to stamp/write.

It's an A5 card, so I filled the space with various designs.
The central one had space to stamp the man in deckchair

I added some enamel shapes, dotted about for interest

Grace's Garden Decoupage (2)

Hi there
this is the card I made mum for her birthday.....

I used Grace's Garden set with an old decoupage image
I knew she'd like.

I kept the background subtle, but with the movement of the gate.

I managed to visit briefly, had a zoom video chat with family,
but sadly not her best birthday.
Not just because of the lockdown, but it would have been
my dad's birthday the following day.
She keeps a brave face on though.

Take care, keep safe,
treasure those close to you.

Grace's Garden Decoupage (1)

Hiya
I'm afraid it's Grace's Garden again.....I just love it so much!

Found some decoupage that I layered up with pinflair glue.
Some of the pieces were really teeny tiny!

I wanted to contrast the pretty girl making a daisy chain,
with a muted stamped background.

Do let me know what you think as I may do another similar one?
There's a very cute cat again in the picture, can you spot it ?  :)

Take care
