open the box?

I got this huge exciting box delivered....

Wondering what it could be?.....

It's almost as big as me!

Would you like to see what's inside?......

Oh Dear.......

It's just the long-handled dustpan,
the grabber picker uppper thingy,
and long handled spongey thing to wash and scrub with!

.......all to get to the parts you can't reach......
when you've broken  a rib!

Which is why I've not been blogging as much for the past couple of weeks.

The good news?!
It'll be healed by christmas!
Yay!

Hoping your plans are going better than mine....

Rudolph Day November

Awwww this is the last Rudolph Day of the year :(
I really have enjoyed joining in,
because not only do I get to see lots of lovely creations
from the other participants,
but I get ahead with my xmas cards too!
Result!

Today I'm sharing a Digi stamp design from the lovely Sarn

I decoupaged some petals and hearts, coloured in with marker pens,
added some coloured dots in the centre, gems and some wink of stella that doesn't show

This one was coloured in with wink of luna pens,
which is like a metallic paint

I added some shimmer, and gold glitter this time.
The sentiment is SU Endless Wishes

Just to prove there are two of them
here they are side by side

The more I played with these images, the more I fell in love with them
I'm hooked on Sarndangles!

I should add that my friend purchased the Digi,
and let me play with a couple of images she'd printed off,
so please respect Sarn's copyright.

You may discover some friends and I are having a bit of fun with Sarn,
so I'd like to share the cards that I'd actually made for this Rudolph Day,
before a naughty playmate brought those lovely images above to our recent play day!

I was given some DSP in a secret santa present
(I know, but I was 'forced' to open it, honest!)
The right hand ones have the paper adhered to the top edge,
a recent layout I'd seen and wanted to try

I haven't got the tree punch, but I do have the triangle,
so made my own lickle trees

Sorry for the long post,
but a BIG thank you to Sarn,
for not only Rudolph Day, but her Sarndangles too!

Looking forward to joining in next year,
with a new organiser, Scrappy Mo
as Sarn is sadly retiring.

christmas training swaps

I had a lovely time at a recent training day,
where we all made swaps to share with each other.

You may remember my little star cat rocker card that I made
to give to the other members,
and I'm sure you'd like to see the swaps I received in return.

On the left is by Jan Twinks, right is by Lesley Lendon.
Please click on the image to see it close up,
they are really lovely and schparkly!

Be sure to come back soon to see some more.

Star Border Punch

I am loving stars because they are so versatile,
and one of my new tools is this border punch

One of the benefits is the array of stars you have left as 'waste',
that can be used as embellishments, confetti, for shaker cards etc.

This was a simple 'happy post' swap
that was inspired by a recent training day I attended.
I'm liking the trend for 3-layered labels.

I hope you are having a good week

Thanks for dropping by and leaving your lovely comments

big news polar bear

This was for a friend who loves polar bears.
Using the same stamp set as for the Dad one,
it just shows how you can change the colour and embellishments
to make it feminine

I added the polar bear for fun,
and the wooho flag is on foam pads,
and I drew a line to join it to the candle

I hope you have a jolly good week

Thanks for dropping by

october rudolph day

I well and truly missed the last month's rudolph day over at Sarn's blog.
Well, actually I'd made the cards, but I just didn't get around to posting them.

So here they are

This time I picked the polar bear looking up at a star.
There are so many elements in this stamp set,
it's easy to build different scenes :)

Happy Friday!

Big News

I was lucky to get this stamp set as a reward.
I often choose something I wouldn't normally order, when it's free,
and it often turns out to be a favourite set,
how bizarre is that?!
This is no exception!

It's perfect for kids, male cards and much more.
Being BIG, it needs little else.
However, I like to come up with something more!
I wanted to make a 'Dad' with the candles,
but used the moons from Pictogram Punches to give  the D curves.

I heat embossed most of it,
added a bit of gold to the stars,
and fussy cut a lot!
A simple stamped insert finishes it off.

Wednesday already!
Have a good day,
thanks for looking

Take a leaf

Here's a first for me.
I took a stencil, daubed versamark through it,
and added lots of different embossing powders,
which I then heated.

This gives a lovely metallic shimmer.
Never knowing when to stop, (!)
I did the same again and overlapped the leaves

I then did a simple sentiment, with the 'waste' powder to match,
and inside just simply inked through the stencil.

Hope your week is going well,
thanks for stopping by

Happy Flower Patch

Background is Corner Garden,
stamped flowers and die cut,
then over stamped and daubed the edges with the same ink colour

Leaves similarly stamped and die cut,
then over stamped a couple of times with the same colour ink

I'd stamped corner garden onto coloured card,
but didn't like the effect, so  used this to punch some little flowers.
I also die cut the sentiment with another flower shape.

I experimented a bit with this one,
but ended up liking the subtle effect of using the same
colour ink to create depth and shadow.

Happy Poppy Day

Happy Remembrance Sunday
We should always remember

Here's Jan and I sporting our fab hand made felt poppies

Now to share my swaps for a recent
 Stampin' Up!
gathering of lots of lovely friends.
I love being part of the Stampin' Stars Team

I hope you like my little 'Rocker Card'
made in 3 colourways

here's a 'pride' of them !?!.......

I added linen thread whiskers
and made 'springs' for the cat's heads

fold or glue two strips at right angles

fold the underneath one over the top of the other

repeat until you have the desired length

 trim off any excess

 here's a bird's eye view

I hope you are having a lovely Sunday

Thinking of you.....

So, I wanted to send a 'thinking of you'....
I like this little bird stamp....

But thought I could combine it with another...

Nope, that didn't work....
perhaps another way, using the stamp-a-ma-jig.....
hmmmm thats a bit more like it, but still not right...

So, how about taking a completely different stamp,
and a few feathers left over from a previous project.....

Punch out and line up with the background...
Put it onto a diamond fold springy card......
Yay!

Nothing like my original plan,
but it'll do for me today!

How often does your project turn out different from what you planned?!

Lovely as a Tree

Had a lovely day at a papercraft show with friends today,
one of which sent me this fab swap recently

Using Lovely as a Tree, and some inking and gold background,
it's a shame as usual that the pic does not do it justice.

I hope you had a lovely weekend
and have an even better week
