February Rudolf Day

Rudolf day again!
I wanted to join Sarn's challenge HERE
Where we make christmas cards on 25th of each month!

I've been wanting to make a wreath from Stampin' Up! Petite Petals,
so this was my first attempt, using sizzlits little leaves...

But my friend who does flower arranging suggested I do the leaves first,
with fewer flowers, so I had another go....

This time I used the Bird Punch for the leaves,
and I stamped some extra Petite Petals, which I then punched with the Itty Bitty,
so they look like smaller versions.
I happened to have a ribbon bow in a pot of snippets....
I also made this into a square card for a change.

Here's both together....

Did you notice the underlining of the sentiment?
I got a 'shadow' ie caught an edge of the rubber with ink when I stamped it,
and made a mark, so attempted a disguise!

Best of flowers take 2

Here I scribbled 3 colours as a background with marker pens,
embossed the background, but leaving a flat section,
upon which to stamp the greeting.
Ribbon and Rhinestones add the finishing touches.

Best of Flowers

I stamped greeting and embossed a layer in whisper white,
 inked the raised flower centers.
Embossed an oval, 'scribbled' ink background and stamped main image

It doesn't have to be complicated!
Enjoy the simple things in life!

Flower Shop Wisteria

I was experimenting with my new Flower Shop set,
my fave wisteria wonder and melon mambo,
a bit of glitter, punched greeting, all raised on foam pads for dimension.

It all matches the paper I used as the background.

Jan's Play Day Gem

Jan's make 'n' take was gorgeous as usual!
White embossed vellum, label and butterfly,
and the new colours canteloupe and cabana

Fortunately she made it easy for us,
by having lots prepped, but we loved this one....a lot!

Softly, softly

Here's Liz's Play Day make 'n' take.....
we tore the edges of our topper,
two-stepped our stamping,
inked our edges, and tied a bow.
Very soft, very elegant,
and apologies for the neck exercise again!
If you'd like more exercise, raise your thumbs to this one!

January Play Day

Sarah brought us a cute make 'n' take,
using the thinlits die.
I really liked cutting two arrows, so that one became a 'shadow'.

Then there was the flip side,
where we shaded the pear in two colours,
and added glitter.

I also liked adding the cute little heart to the 'I' on the I<3U.
I completely messed up the cutting of my paper,
but as you can see it didn't end up too bad!

and this lovely heart, ribbon and brad on the side.

And in case you can't see.....it is was full of humbugs!

Happy Days

This was fun and simple to do,
and quite pretty, I hope you'll agree?

I masked off the center panel, and stamped some flowers,
embossed the panel edges on my scoreboard,
stamped the greeting using my stamp-a-ma-jig,
(if you haven't got one you NEED one!
it helps you position stamps accurately and easily),
then added some stamped punched flowers, ribbon and rhinestones.

Best Banners

Here's one I did for a Nephew growing up fast!
These banners are great for boys cards.
I got the stamp set and punch FREE in our
Sale-a-Bration!

I added gold and green stars, and Bitty Banners,
with a greeting from the new "Just Sayin'" set.
I die-cut a circle from whisper white card, mounted on real red,
and drew in the "string" with a marker pen and a ruler.

Tent card that won't blow over!

Here's an absolute fave that I based on a card Sarn made
(see her blog HERE)

It's a tent card, but with a stable bottom!
It definitely won't get blown over, even in this weather!
I used Modern Medley DSP, Marina Mist ink,
Flower Shop, Four Frames and Simply Sketched stamp sets,
Flower, Oval, and Label punches.

Here's the added hinged base,
this makes it really stable on the mantle piece,
great for hanging embellishments in.

I liked it so much I made some more!
.......when my Petite Petals arrived......
so I could add a couple of small flowers.

These are so pretty in the flesh,
and were a big hit in my Card making Class!

Postcard

A dear Uncle had a Birthday recently,
and being well-traveled I thought I'd do him a 'Postcard' one....
The globe is from 'Open Sea',
and I then had fun finding sentiments to fit the 'address' section,
and adding the 'bunting'.
I even stitched some chevron ribbon , and added a gold star coz he deserves one!

Did you know you can get this Banner Punch FREE
during sale-a-bration?!

Flower Shop Secret message

I'm not sure I will ever tire of this stamp set.

I wanted to try a technique showcased by Lelly Jelly's Stamp 'n' Scrap,
but in spite of 'googling' various key words,
I failed to find any instructions, so I just did my best.

If anyone knows of a tutorial, please do share!

I'm pleased how the name shows up in the picture,
it seemed more subtle in real life!

I added some flowers with Petite Petals,
and some silver glimmer paper in the centres,
Melon Mambo ribbon finishes it off.

I hope this cheers you up with all the wind and rain we had today.

Edited to add:   I found it!.......Check out Kirsteen's Two-Tier Eclipse Technique  HERE

Queen of Cupcakes

A very dear friend had a special birthday yesterday,
and she makes wonderful cupcakes.

I had some of this lovely paper left, (cupcakes and cherries),
decided to go with a flip card
(one of my fave dies at the mo!)
and then found a sentiment that fitted perfectly!

Here's the 'flip' side.
I think I added some paper to the back of the oval.......but after I took a pic!
I used my FREE GIFT, the Banner Punch,
to hang some bunting (which my friend makes too...proper material ones though!),
then added some more punched 'cherries'.

More rain forecast tonight.....well it is Tuesday,
and Alan's due to walk to his darts match,
so he will probably get wet....as usual ....on Tuesdays!

Monthly swap

Flower Shop meets Summer Silhouette.

A group of us are doing a monthly postal swap
organised by Sarn, who's fab blog can be seen HERE...
Do check out her Sarntangles and Sarndangles!

So this was the swap I made last month
(where DID January go?!?!?!)
I stamped and then masked each flower,
so that one appears in front and the others behind.
I then did a shadow line around them with a marker pen.
This enhances the 3-D effect (hopefully!).

The little sentiment has been die-cut
with one of the many extras from the Thinlits flip card dies.
Rhinestones add some bling :)

Block Card....

Here's a version of a Block Card....
I got the idea from Stampin' Pretty.com
It is a fun different 3-d  type card
that still posts flat (always a bonus these days!)
and can be adapted to any occasion!
Thanks to Di from the Snippets Playground,
I have learnt how to re-size my pics ;) !
I made mine into a man's/boy's card,
but my friend Jan made a girlie one HERE

Take a piece of card 12 x 4 1/2"
and score every 1 1/2 "
Cut the solid lines,
and you should end up with this:
Cut a hinge 4 1/2 " x 1" and score in half
Join the two ends by sticking the hinge inside....
Glue the flaps to make steps...

Turn it to suit and decorate!

Flower Shop

Hello
Hope your weekend is going ok!
In spite of the weather being pants!
Alan and I managed a country walk in between hail storms!

Thought I'd share this card,
that has quite a few fave products....
Flower Shop stamp set, and matching Punch,
Little Leaves a Sizzix die,
Apothecary Art stamp set and matching die...
I stamped the flowers on paper, then punched them out.
See how you can decorate your envelopes too!
