Love You Lots, Hostess Hedgie

There's a super cute Hostess stamp set called Love You Lots
that is utterly adorable.

I've only got it out once so far.....with the new square framelits,
and the new enamel shapes that I love too.

I wasn't sure about the thin frame....so I did one with smaller topper
to give a thicker edge to frame the focal points,
and I still can't decide.

What do you think?
Please leave your comments below if you have a preference!

Mixed Borders

I love the mixed borders,
did one a while back, and there's a gap specifically left for the sentiment

tried a couple of different layouts

did a continuous border top and bottom of the first card,
can you guess where the join is?!

dinky flowers come in very useful, as do butterflies, don't they?!
Hope you are having a good weekend

Hit the Bullseye!

It's beloved's birthday, so I always try to make something special.

He has quite a few hobbies, which makes it a lot easier.
I've done golf, cycling, billiards, so decided on darts this time.

Had a great plan in my head........did it go according to plan?
Does it ever? as if!!!!!......

Sunburst die......eventually decided to draw lines to make it neater than prototype number one!
Found the middle roughly and drew towards outside edges.
(daffodil delight)

Die cut a circle from it trying to focus roughly on centre point

Cut out smaller circle frames in old olive

Added the bullseye.
Carefully cut along lines,
stuck green circles on and cut away the green bits in between.

Cut circle from basic black, and smaller circle frames from real red,
trying to line them up with green! (NOT easy!)

Stuck it together........not bad compared to prototype one!

Forgot to take pic of drawn lines on sunburst......so cut another one!
Happened to put 'dart board' on top of sunburst.....
hey presto, happy accident....
a few (ok more than a few) attempts at lining them up......roughly!

Added a banner greeting,
and a computer generated insert

Needless to say I won't be making another in a hurry!!!

Have a great day

p.s. yes I know it's not true to a proper dartboard, segments, numbers etc,
but I was going for the illusion!

pps lots of snippets used, so might make it over to the
Snippets Playground........while he's snoozing.....

Something Fishy going on.....

We did some zentangle at Club recently.

We had some 'open' stamps that we could doodle in to make patterns.
Some of my awesome zentangle friends will be unimpressed,
but it looks ok if you don't look too closely!

I found a leafy stamp for the reeds,
and for the bubbles I used Stampin' Up! Playful Backgrounds,
adding a bit of shading.
Googly eye completes the fun!

Hope your day goes swimmingly!
I cod be back tomorrow, bream-ing with more ideas.....
I expect you'll think of better puns huh?!
Go on....have a dab at it!

Butterfly Basics

I think it should be renamed Butterfly Bounty,
as this popular set is packed full of lovely stamps,
that can be used together or alone.

This lovely project was a make n take from Liz,
I love all the layering with just stamps,
and a tag topper is always a hit,
hope you agree.

Have a wonderful week

Live Laugh Love mini booklet

Saw this idea on the internet somewhere,
It actually uses an element from the Treat Bag die.

Some of the die sets, the Framelits, Thinlits,
often have parts that get overlooked when they are not part of the main project.

There's an insignificant set of holes...yes holes!
But if you look closely, it forms the spine where the booklet is bound together.

I don't have any fancy book binding things,
so was quite chuffed to discover this easy way of making your own notebook.
Just fill with some copy paper, and bind together with twine or ribbon.

I stamped the cover with a fave new set Layering Love,
then stamped the bird and splats from Swirly Bird
in the same crumb cake ink as the card.

Hope you are enjoying the weekend

Nurse it better

Here's a lovely make by Liz,
a cute little tissue box,
with the all time fave the Owl Builder Punch.

My little nurse is a little cross eyed,
but sweet all the same methinks,
and she helps keep the box closed.

I think this would make a good class project,
so do join us if you fancy some crafty fun and techniques,
and I always offer the yummiest biscuits!

So, if your feeling blue, or off colour at all,
I hope this makes you smile at least.

Take it easy

White Stag White Christmas

This was inspired by Ros, a very talented teamie.
Inked and embossed the folder, to give shadow to the trees,
and was meant to mount a tag on the front.
However,
it was one of those nothing-goes-quite-right kinda days
(do you get those too?!)
and I chopped off his legs, which just didn't look right at all.
So,
second attempt, heat embossed him in white again,
and left it as a rectangle.

He is a handsome chap dontchathink?
The white twine sets him off a treat.

I haven't got this set......so another one to add to the wish list!

Swirly Christmas

There seems to be lots of Christmas crafting going on lately,
so I'm sharing some ideas to inspire you to get ahead with yours.

Used the Swirly Scribbles to make a wreath,
the two greens create a shadow and more depth.
Sequins represent berries, some dinky twinky stars for more sparkle,
and a bit of cross stitching in the corner,
which was an idea from the OnStage event in Telford.

I would do square cards more often, but often follow the standard rectangle,
which fits standard envelopes.

I have another to share soon that was inspired by my talented teamie Ros,
and I was going to enter in a challenge,
but guess what? it was last month, so a tad late!

Enjoy your day

Twinkling Stars

It's a new week, and a new resolve to get my blogging act together.
We'll see how long it lasts eh?!

We had a fun team challenge recently,
you may have seen them on facebook, but I haven't posted them here before.

The 'rules' were to use twinkling stars and paper piercing,
(this was a challenge we failed at during a team day,
our pricking left a LOT to be desired,
so I decided to torture force ourselves to practice)

Here's my attempt, please don't look too closely !

The other teamies were much more talented

Enamel Shapes

You may think this is an odd post,
but I was so 'enamelled' when I accidentally tipped my new pack
of Enamel shapes on the desk, I actually squealed
at how cute they are, and how many there were,
so I just had to show you!

So you could take advantage of this Month's offer
and earn some for free

or you could share a pack if you'd like?
Just ask if you ever want to share part of any of the packs,
as I know not everyone wants whole packs of stuff,
and I can help you share the cost.

Shaker your day

Just love Stampin' Up!'s new catalogue....
Love shaker cards
and love the new foam tape strips
that make the shakers so much easier.
Also love the new square framelits...
they are so versatile
and make layering, and making frames, an absolute breeze!

Anyway, you came to see what I made right?!
This is black white and gold,
just like the sequins, and the faux brads.
I also love the DSP paper stacks,
and here I show my favourites, the script and the polka dots.
The sentiment is from Party with Cake.

Here's one similar, but different,
with a teeny tiny shaker frame and some paper piercing.
Layering Love is the stamp set.

Enjoy the Little Things,
It's Your Day!!!!!

faux watercolour

Continuing my dogged determination to force my classmates
to get inky and arty with free brush strokes  and watercolour abandon,
I gave up, and decided to change tack slightly and do a faux
watercolour technique.

Needless to say they were much happier with this one !
we took the brush strokes from Playful Backgrounds
(any brush strokes would do)
stamp , turn upside down and second generation stamp

Stamp the sentiment over the top,
stamp and punch some pretty petite petals, and add some rhinestones.

So it wasn't a complete watercolour washout, I had fun,
and I think they did too ?!?
They all booked for the next class anyway!
Do join us for some crafty fun, we always have a laugh,
and endeavour to learn something new too,
so just ask if you'd like more details.

smooshing technique

Using Wetlands this time and continuing the watercolour technique class,
we took some shimmery white card,  and a piece of acetate,
upon which we splat some ink and spritzed with water.

This time we smooshed the acetate over the card, laying down the ink in gay abandon,
except again, some were too controlling and worrying too much about it.....
So we left it to dry, and then went on to stamp over the top,
and slowly they started to trust me (not!).

We laid down some watery old olive for the grass.
and for the control freaks (kidding!) we stamped and fussy cut
another goose to stick on top, so he looked all nice and white and pristine like
(not even sure how to spell that!)

They were ....relatively.... happy with their results,
but so as not to loose their interest completely......
we then did something completely different.....

Do you think I'm cruel putting them through all this trauma
of getting inky and arty?!

Trust me, you'll like the next one.......maybe....

emboss resist technique

Well, thats nearly a whole week gone by without posting,
so without further ado, I'm going to share a recent watercolour technique class.

The first was using emboss resist,
so I stamped with versamark, and heat embossed with white powder.

Added some ink to a tile or block, spritzed with water,
and did a wash, starting from the centre outwards,
to give the flower a darker centre.

It was a challenge, as everyone wanted to be too controlled,
and spend too much time, whereas its meant to be quick and free!

I accidentally got some blue ink splats on my finished card,
so I added some more to look like it was part of the plan teehee.

So, that didn't go according to plan......
pop by to see if the next one did!......

Meantime have a great weekend
